Blood Moon Sangria | Inspired by a Desert Full Moon

Blood Moon Sangria was inspired by a gorgeous full moon rising over the desert and a craving for something fragrant, spiced, and refreshing.

The desert has a way of inspiring unexpected rituals. Under a blood moon, everything feels a little more vivid—the colors, the silence, even the flavors we crave. While glamping beneath the stars with my sweetheart, I found myself wanting something festive but simple. With only a handful of ingredients available, I began experimenting and discovered a surprisingly delicious sangria.

What started as improvisation became one of my favorite memories of that trip—a reminder that creativity often comes from limitations. I didn’t have everything needed for a traditional sangria recipe, yet I was pleasantly surprised by the refreshing, slightly intoxicating success of this unexpected combination. Sometimes the best creations come from trusting intuition and making the most of what is already at hand.

Eden Blood-Moon ‘Sangria’

  • 2 Cups Red Wine
  • 1 Ginger Root Beer (I used Zevia brand)
  • A squirt of Vanilla Stevia
  • Dash of Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • Pour over lots o’ ice into mason jars

Why I Love This Sangria

What I love most about this sangria isn’t the recipe itself—it’s the memory attached to it. Every time I think about it, I’m transported back to that desert evening beneath a glowing blood moon, sharing simple pleasures with someone I love. Sometimes the most memorable creations are born from spontaneity rather than planning.

PSBlood moons occur during a total lunar eclipse when sunlight filters through Earth’s atmosphere, giving the moon its distinctive red glow.

Sip Something Beautiful

Creativity doesn’t always begin in the studio. Sometimes it begins beneath a full moon with whatever ingredients happen to be on hand.

Whether I’m designing a collection, creating art, or mixing an unexpected sangria, some of my favorite discoveries come from trusting intuition.
