Why I Love This Vibrant Thai-Inspired Slaw
One of the things I love most about this vibrant Thai-inspired slaw is how it transforms simple ingredients into something that feels like a work of art. The vibrancy of the vegetables, fresh herbs, and bright flavors come together in a way that always inspires me to slow down and enjoy the creative process of preparing a meal.
When I originally created this recipe, I described it as turning your kitchen into an art studio, and that still feels true today. There’s something deeply satisfying about chopping, mixing, and arranging colorful ingredients into a dish that looks as beautiful as it tastes. It’s a reminder that creativity doesn’t only live in a studio or sketchbook—it can be found in everyday rituals, including the meals we prepare for ourselves and the people we love.
Creativity Beyond the Kitchen
One of my favorite details from creating this vibrant Thai-inspired slaw had nothing to do with the ingredients themselves. When I filmed the accompanying recipe video, I had the pleasure of wearing beautiful jagua henna designs created by the talented Alexes Monique of Henna Plant Magic.
The intricate artwork became part of the visual story woven throughout the video and perfectly reflected the spirit of the recipe itself. I’ve always believed creativity can show up in unexpected places—through food, art, travel, self-expression, and the simple act of making something with intention.
Just as this colorful slaw transforms everyday ingredients into something vibrant and memorable, the beautiful henna designs served as a reminder that creativity often lives in the details. Sometimes the most meaningful experiences happen when we allow different forms of artistry to come together and inspire one another.
For me, this slaw celebrates contrast, curiosity, and the simple joy of making something beautiful from fresh, everyday ingredients.

Feed your body, adorn your spirit.
The experiences that shape us often find their way into every part of our lives. A memorable meal, a beautiful destination, an unexpected conversation, or a meaningful creative moment can influence not only how we see the world, but how we express ourselves within it.
Many of my favorite designs have grown from the places I’ve explored, the people I’ve met, and the moments that have stayed with me long after the journey ended. From artisan traditions and beautiful textiles to the everyday details that catch my eye, each experience leaves its mark.
